Does Homeowners Insurance Cover Vandalism? – Entrust Insurance, St. Clair Shores

“Vandalism is covered through your homeowners. And depending on the situation: it could be a simple breaking of the door. They could have broken the window or you know, more significant damage. So something to consider, though, is if you do file a claim for vandalism, you have to pay a deductible. Right? So what is your deductible? Is it $1,000 or $2,500. And then as I advise everybody before they file a claim, understand what the cost of the damage is. What’s you’re “all in,” because if somebody breaks in your front door, you got to replace the door, frame, relock. Maybe that only costs six or $700 or less or more. And if your deductible is $1000, then you don’t want to even pick up the phone and call the insurance company. You want to take care of it yourself, repair the damage, and go back to life as normal.”
