Disaster can happen without asking the right questions. It’s important to be thoroughly involved with the quoting process. Be sure to give your agent as much information as possible. This way they are able to find you the right coverage. But, when you are shopping for a new policy, beware.

There is a very important question to be asking when shopping around for quotes. Coverage and cost should be looked at in detail. That of your current policy and your quotes. Our owner, Pat Brennen, explains more in the video.

What Can Happen When Your Policy Isn’t Right For You? – Entrust Insurance, St. Clair Shores

“Right now, the most important thing in this is if you’re currently insured, and you’re shopping against what you have is how does my coverage right now, compare to the coverage in your quote? To piggyback on the other videos. (some companies) are not including certain things, or they’re trying to lessen or lighten coverage because they want to bring the price down to beat your current price. And very, very often, they have to reduce the coverage to reduce the price. So you don’t want to find yourself in a position where you’re spending less but buying less and putting yourself in peril or at risk. If you’re going to compare cost, you must compare coverage. You can’t have one without the other. And truthfully you need to start with the coverage. The price is a byproduct of that. So when I’m working with somebody, I ask, what are those coverages because it’s really, really important for me to point out “you have too much here. You don’t have enough there. Did you know you don’t have this?” Because of the policy is not right to begin with. We need to fix it for you. That’s part of our job. And our responsibility is not to just sell you a policy, but to make sure it’s fit and tailored for what your needs are.”
