If you have a young driver in your household who is currently attending high school or college and meets the driving age criteria, we have some good news for you. Many of the carriers we work with offer a “good student” discount, which can help alleviate the financial burden associated with insuring a young driver. To qualify, the student must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better. The discount amount varies depending on the insurance company, but it can be quite significant in many cases. Join us as we explore how this discount can impact your overall costs and help you manage the expenses associated with having a young driver on your policy.

Our owner and founder, Pat Brennan, explains more about how it works and where to purchase it. Check out the video below!

Does Entrust Insurance Offer a “Good Student” Discount? – Entrust Insurance, St. Clair Shores

“For every carrier that we write, there is a discount, good student discount. Very easy to qualify, they have to be in school, college or high school, of driving age. Typically the cap is 25 years of age. So if you’re below 25 years of age, you can qualify for it. And you have to have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. The discount amount varies from company to company, but in a lot of cases, it’s actually fairly significant. A young driver is going to impact your costs pretty tremendously. The younger they are, the more it’s going to cost. But when you add that discount rate, it’s relative to how much that driver costs on your policy. So you know if they may be increasing your cost by 100 bucks and you’re getting a 10 or 15% discount because they’re a good student, it’s pretty impactful on helping rein in the cost when you have to have that young driver.”
